Pool Opening Cleaning/Chemical Options

The amount of cleaning and chemicals needed during your pool opening varies depending on when the pool was closed, the weather throughout the off-season, contaminants like fertilizers, and when you are opening your pool. The options below are designed to help you budget for your opening and allow you to decide how involved you want to be.

If you would like us to start the system or remove the cover you most choose those options in addition to your cleaning and chemical option. Charges for these services are in addition to your cleaning/chemical budget option.

Option 1 – No return trips, add chemicals ONLY at the first opening visit – NO cleaning (brushing/scooping/vacuuming) will be done.

What you get:

We will add the initial dose of shock, algaecide, enzymatic clarifier and chlorine sticks based on the size of the pool, water clarity and chemical budget. If you use Baquacil/SoftSwim products we will use the equivalent appropriate products. When possible, we will install any ladders and handrails.

We will only add chemicals that have been purchased through Suntime Pools West. We WILL NOT add chemicals that were not purchased through our store. Chemicals off the truck are billed at the same price as if purchased at our store.

Option 2 – No return trips, add chemicals and/or clean for up to 1 hour at the first opening visit.

We will also brush, scoop and/or vacuum the pool for up to 1 hour. All cleaning (scooping/brushing/vacuuming) is billed at $110 per half hour per tech. If two techs clean for 15 minutes, this is equivalent to one half hour of cleaning. There are NO return visits for cleaning/chemicals with this option.

We will only add chemicals that have been purchased through Suntime Pools West. We WILL NOT add chemicals that were not purchased through our store. Chemicals off the truck are billed at the same price as if purchased at our store.

Option 3 – Opening Visit and up to 2 Return Visits to clean, test & treat water- $700 – $1000

What you get:

We will plan to return about every 2 to 4 days to test and adjust the water chemistry. We will bring a water sample back for further testing in our lab when needed. When possible, we will install any ladders and handrails.

We will also brush/scoop/vacuum, backwash or rinse the filter and empty all the baskets when appropriate and needed. We will continue this process until either the pool is to maintenance stage, your budget has been reached or we have visited 3 total times. We will contact you at this point to see how you want to proceed.

We will only add chemicals that have been purchased through Suntime Pools West. We WILL NOT add chemicals that were not purchased through our store. Chemicals off the truck are billed at the same price as if purchased at our store.

Cleaning (scooping/brushing/vacuuming) is billed at $55 per 15 minutes per tech. If two techs clean for 15 minutes each, this is equivalent to one half hour of cleaning.

Standard return visits include water testing, chemical treatment, and up to one hour of cleaning for a base fee of $220, plus the cost of chemicals. Products used from our service vehicles are billed at standard in-store rates. If site conditions—such as low water levels or lack of access to the pool—prevent us from cleaning, a $110 trip fee will apply in addition to any chemicals used off our truck. Cleaning services exceeding the initial hour are billed at $55 per 15-minute increment.

Option 4 – Keep coming to clean, test & treat water until it is to maintenance stage – $800 plus.

What you get:

We will plan to return about every 2 to 4 days to test and adjust balance the water chemistry. We will bring a water sample back for further testing in our lab when needed. When possible, we will install any ladders and handrails.

We will also brush/scoop/vacuum, backwash or rinse the filter and empty all the baskets when appropriate and needed. We will continue this process until the pool is to maintenance stage, no matter how many trips it takes, or until we have reached the budget limit you chose.

If we are approaching your budget and the pool is not to maintenance stage, we will contact you to discuss options for proceeding. These options may include increasing your budget or working with the stores to complete the final stages of opening.
